Make room for
the good stuff.

When a different voice makes a video easier to follow, Renarrator turns its captions into narration and helps keep it in time.

01

Open your video.

Turn on captions where available, then open Renarrator from Chrome’s toolbar.

02

Find your voice.

Choose a narrator, a language, and a comfortable speaking pace. Local voices download once.

03

Press play. Settle in.

Renarrator prepares narration while you watch. Stop listening any time to restore the original audio.

Your computer does the talking

A smaller trip
for your words.

With Kokoro and Piper, speech is generated inside Chrome. Caption text and generated narration stay on your computer.

Account and subscription checks still use the internet. Optional cloud voices send text directly to the provider you choose.

A few things to know

Before you
press play.

How does the free trial work?

Sign in with a short code sent to your email. Your account gets 30 minutes of played AI narration. The balance stays on the server, so signing back into the same account after reinstalling resumes your trial.

The trial requires internet access. Playback reserves small allowances ahead of time and returns unused time when you stop normally. A sudden disconnect or uninstall can use up an outstanding allowance.

Does Renarrator change the video itself?

No. It plays replacement narration while you watch. The original audio is muted, including music and sound effects. Stop Renarrator to bring that audio back. Timing adjustments may briefly pause the video.

Will it work on every video?

Captioned videos work best. Site restrictions and caption availability vary. Renarrator also offers local transcription for supported videos without captions; preparing it takes time. Caption and transcription mistakes will be read aloud.

Is my video sent to an AI service?

Local voice generation, transcription, and translation run on your computer. With an optional provider key, the text to narrate goes directly to that provider. Some computer voices marked “online” also use their provider’s servers.

Can I use it offline?

The free trial needs an internet connection. Subscribers can use downloaded local models during a seven-day subscription-check grace period. The video itself may still require a connection.

Do cloud voices cost extra?

Yes. Renarrator’s subscription covers the extension’s features. If you add a provider API key, that provider bills your account directly for its usage. Renarrator does not include or sell cloud voice credits.

A familiar voice. A fresh start.
